director & staff bios

Susanne Norwood Director for The Brementown Musician and music director for Disney’s Mulan Jr.)
Susanne graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Music Education.  She has taught in Hawaii and Vermont and is currently the vocal and instrumental director at Lyndon Institute.  She also teaches at Burke Town School and is proud to be a part of VCT as a director, musician, and most importantly, a parent.

Angela Miller-Brown (Director for Disney’s Mulan Jr.)
Angela Miller-Brown has loved theatre her entire life. She has a BA in Theatre from Johnson State College. Following graduation, she worked as the theatre director for Fair Haven Union High School, directing two to three shows a year. After teaching English and theatre at The Caledonia School for three years, Angela obtained her English degree and teaching license from Lyndon State College. When she isn’t directing, Angela works in the library at St. Johnsbury Academy. This will be her fourth season with the Vermont Children’s Theater.

John Walker (Director for The Music Man)
John Haynes Walker has acted in television, film and theatre for over thirty years and directed over fifty productions, working with Academy Award directors and actors including, Norman Jewison and Michael Radford. His television credits include recurring roles on: General Hospital, Homicide, Life on the Street, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman among many others. He has also worked with Tony Award winning directors and at Tony Award winning theaters nationwide. His resume includes lead roles at The Huntington Theatre Company of Boston, The American Conservatory Theatre (where he also earned his MFA in acting), The Boston Shakespeare Company, The Santa Cruz Shakespeare festival, The Garden Grove Shakespeare festival, the Gem theatre among many others.  His directing credits include many professional theaters from Los Angeles to New York. Awards include the Los Angeles Dramalogue Acting Award as best actor in a drama. Mr. Walker also trained with The Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Drama League in London. 

Johanna Kennedy (Music director for The Music Man)
Johanna is the organist/choir director at the First Congregational Church in Lyndonville and has been a choral accompanist for several schools including Lyndon Town School, Riverside, LI, Glover, Irasburg, Albany, Brownington, Orleans, and Lake Region HS.  She has also played musicals for Twilight Players, St. Johnsbury Players, Vermont Family Theatre, and Vermont Children's Theater.  Johanna lives in Glover with her husband and 3 children, and is pleased to be part of the team at the Vermont Children's Theater. 

Lydia Ham (Assistant director for The Brementown Musicians)
Lydia Ham is a long-time participant in the VCT programs, and has assisted with several plays.  She will be starting college in the fall, and hopes to study music education, and hopes to eventually work in creative arts therapy.

Teddy DeGeorge (Lighting)
Teddy has been involved with the theater since 1991, when she was part of the theater magic as an old barn was transformed into a theater in Barnum.  She has been doing the lighting at the Vermont Children’s Theater for years, and loves doing it.

The Vermont Children's Theater presents two to three shows each summer, all performed by local children from 7 years old through graduating high school seniors.  This year we are pleased to present:
