  • Can I still participate if I have to miss rehearsals or performances due to family vacations or other summer plans?
We understand families have other commitments during the summer, so we ask that you indicate vacation plans and other scheduling conflicts on your audition paperwork. Our directors will make every effort to work with your schedule, but please be aware that being unavailable for a significant amount of time may impact the type of role you are given.
  • Can I audition for a specific role?
Yes, you are encouraged to indicate on your audition form if there’s a role you do (or don’t) want to play, if you’re interested in a solo, etc. These preferences help to guide the directors in the casting process; however, they do not guarantee you will be cast in a particular role.
  • What if I do not get the part that I wanted?
Disappointment at not receiving the role you wanted is, unfortunately, a part of theater. At VCT, everyone who auditions is included in the cast, and our directors pick a place especially for each child. Please remember that all roles—big or small—are an important part of telling the story. As a parent, you can guide your child through hard feelings by being excited about their role and helping them explore the importance of their role within the story. Please remind your child that every role within the musical is important, and that every group of characters has a lot of fun and exciting responsibilities, without which the story would be incomplete. If you have concerns about casting, please contact a board member, not the director, to discuss further.
  • Are there ways for non-actors to participate at VCT?
Yes! Our creative teams welcome the participation of choreographers, musicians, costume creators, set artists, prop makers, backstage crew, light and sound helpers, stage managers, and more. If you are interested in working behind the scenes to bring our theatrical productions to life this season, please either attend an audition session or contact the theater at 802-626-5358 or vermontchildrenstheater@gmail.com.
  • Does the VCT Barn have a no-nut policy?
For the safety of those with allergies, VCT does have a strict no-nut policy at the barn for all rehearsals. During shows, all our concessions are nut-allergy-safe as well.
